beach evening

We went for a barbecue on the beach with friends this evening. The kids took care of themselves for the most part, digging for ... well, something; building sand turtles, exploring, chasing remote controlled cars (that didn't belong to us!), eating burgers and sausages, and, in the end, some of them even went swimming!! It was a lovely lovely evening, if a bit chilly especially as I forgot to bring a jacket and the sun was going down. D'oh. More pictures here.

Earlier in the day Ben had had a nap - a really early one as well. 2pm and fast asleep. I don't think any of us are getting enough sleep at night at the moment, going to be too late generally!! But I'm beginning to have suspicions that Ben may be a sleepwalker. I went upstairs to get changed in the spare bedroom and found a Ben half on the floor and half on the futon, fast asleep. He'd gone to bed in his bed in the main bedroom. Quite peaceful. I didn't hear him stir at all, I've no idea when he got out of bed and ended up in the spare room! He's done this kind of thing before, we've found him on the floor just behind the bedroom door (well, Steve did, when he opened the door and bashed it into him - oops!) and on the foot of our bed a couple of times. But usually he just wakes up and looks a bit puzzled about the whole concept of being awake again.
