Red Tailed Hawk

On the way to work this morning I spotted this hawk up on a wire. When I pointed him out to R he asked if I wanted to turn around. I said "no, I don't want to be late." Now, who says that!?!

Well, he did turn around and as we did the hawk flew from the wire into a tree at first and then onto the ground. He had some a small animal under one of his claws ~ I couldn't tell what it was. I was able to get several photos of him before he flew off. I really love his legs ~ it looks like he is wearing pants!
