Feeding

One of the first jobs each morning is feeding the Alpacas and breaking the ice off the water troughs. Of course, this is before we have changed into ski gear, so pyjamas, dressing gowns, gumboots and ski gloves is the standard attire. The alpacas don't appear to mind!

Then up Cardrona to check out the ski conditions. Left Wanaka in sunshine, then it got gloomier and gloomier as we headed up the mountain. Delayed somewhat by an avalanche over the road for 20 mins.

Finally at 11.30 we got to the car park. Coffees and fluffies all around, while I did some businesses, then lunch in the noodle bar, and finally ... a decision to ski.

Skiing. Well, the writing was on the wall when the sign said "-20 degrees including wind chill, dress warmly". So we expected one run. Which is what Robyn and Hannah did. Adam I am then skied off for another , to Whitestar, a high speed lift. And that was our undoing. High speed, into high winds, with sow and ice. We both got "brain freeze" and I was thankful when Adam said he was too cold. But, I would have done another.

Back down the hill, into the sunshine ironically. A relaxing afternoon at the house and spa pool, and relatively early night.
