Study in Blue and White

Earlier this week, I went to one of our big box hardware stores (Loews) and bought a children's plastic wading pool for our dog. I was hoping that during this heatwave she might like to splash around in it like she did in our local park's stream (when it still had water in it). So far I've only been able to get her to stand in it for a second, though my partner Mark said that after taking her for a walk yesterday, she did splash around in it a bit to cool off.

Anyway, this morning when I went out to water the garden, I saw this poor moth floating in the water in the wading pool. Its pure whiteness looked so ghostly against the sky blue, that I had to try and photograph it. The moth wasn't moving at all, so I assumed it was dead, but shortly after I took this picture, I dumped the water out of the pool and I saw that the moth was still alive. When I saw it struggling to get up from the wet grass, I managed to get it up on a leaf in a protected spot where it could dry off.
