Z & B Get Creative

Daughter E came up from Bellevue with grandchildren Z & B today. I'd been saving small wood scraps for them to work with in my shop, and they had a great time making wood "sculptures". They started work in the afternoon and were very reluctant to leave to go the Farmers' Market in Fairhaven, even with the prospect of burgers for dinner, followed by Mallard ice cream. We had to promise to let them continue working after dinner.

We used a hot glue gun for assembly. We'll try nailing later. B enjoyed learning to use a hand saw for simple cuts, and I did the more difficult ones on the bandsaw. E handled the glue gun. Z was more interested in the design aspect but would have liked to use a chisel.

The constructions are very different, but equally inventive. When I asked the kids what they called their creations, Z said her's is called Bellingham Beauty. B's response was "I don't know".
