Day 42+2. The End
Definitely the last day of the holiday - another washing, washed the car, more tidying, and putting the new tubes and tyres on H's bike. Just couldn't get the brakes to sit properly after all that, so it'll need to go to the professionals.
Also managed to fit in a sit-down with the Sunday papers and a walk along the Water of Leith which is currently in spate and so full of mud that looks like something out of deepest Africa. This was taken by St Bernard's Well.
Before I forget, I should record some of the factors that made this holiday such a success:
1. Familiarity with the trailer tent. No nerves this year :o)
2. Comfy chairs. Tent dwelling can be a bit uncomforable but the new chairs (we went all the way to Preston for them a couple of months ago and almost bumped into the Chadwicks in the Lake District, but I didn't know that at the time) were fantastic.
3. Good sleeping bags. New ones also smell better...
4. A table that isn't constantly threatening to collapse.
5. The novelty of a new destination.
6. Fabulous ferry crossings, but maybe we were a bit lucky with the weather.
7. Packed up the tent on a dry day a few days before we were due back, and stayed in a comfy hotel.
