Lowry exhibition, Salford.
Well, today was the day we'd all been looking forward to, the interactive Dr Who show, Crash Of the Elysium. It all started well, you are taken into a small exhibition room where a museum guide tells you about the boat that had sunk, the Elysium. Suddenly an alarm sounds, 3 soldiers enter the room and you're told to run as fast as you can, the soldiers leading the way. So far so good. In the next room you are told to dress in a boiler suit and mask. It was at this point that things started to go wrong. Ali, who'd we'd organized this for suddenly started to say he felt sick, his eyes were bloodshot and he cried " I want to go to bed!". I couldn't risk that he would throw up once we entered the next room, as I knew we'd be experiencing darkness and strange goings ons. This meant Necmi had to take him out to the first aid room and the two of them missed the entire show. Zeki and I continued through, but within a couple of minutes he was crying with fear, and this didn't stop for the duration of the experience! Once the whole crazy event was over, he was fine and was able to look back with great enjoyment and excitement. I, however, was gutted that Necmi, and more importantly Ali, had missed out ( it didn't help that I spent £40 for them not to watch it. Ali was so disappointed. It was as if he'd had a panic attack, despite the fact that he said he wasn't scared.
Afterwards we went to the Lowry centre to see a Warhol exhibition and the Lowry paintings. I particularly liked Lowry's paintings. I thought this one expressed my feelings as to how the morning had panned out!
We had a lovely weekend with my brother and his girlfriend. On to London tomorrow, for more rain!
