Anna Regina
This is a photograph of the Queen Anne (Anna Regina) garden at Stirling Castle in Scotland. A sparkling sunny morning to show the garden at its very best.
There's been a castle at Stirling for probably around 1000 years but most of what can now be seen is about 500 years old or younger. King James IV started grand building works and he was succeeded in this by his son Jamex V. His daughter Mary became Mary Queen of Scots when she was less than a year old. Her son James VI was christened at Stirling Castle and so was his son Henry. Quite a royal legacy. The royal family of Stewart built most of the castle and Queen Anne was the last Stewart ruler.
The garden is in 2 tiers. As well as a place for the Stewarts to relax it was once used as a bowling green by Queen Anne's officers when they were off duty.
It's a super place to sit and drink in the views and history of the castle. And a great place to photograph on such a fine day as today. I had a coffee from my favourite coffee house in Stirling, the warm sunshine, very few tourists at that time, and time to let the rich history of the garden drink in.
