Helter-skelter

By Juli

The season finale!

Apart from the Volunteers' Picnic next week, today was my last stint for Wakehurst until the schools go back in September - and what a terrific way to finish!

Spent the day helping at 'Connect with the Countryside' at the South of England Showground.

It was my first time at the showground as a contributor rather than just a visitor and it was great fun - made even better by the fact we were in the 'food' bit. During a lull I sampled luscious red tomatoes, fresh-baked bread, organic cheese, milk and butter, home-made soup, several varieties of raw fruit and vegetables, some lovely honey and a strawberry smoothie (blended by bicycle, no less!).

I also ate my first marigold - very tasty.
