Promenade

Went over to the other side of the country, to Essex, yesterday to see an old friend who is not very well. We walked along the waterfront at Maldon, a surprisingly pretty and interesting little town.

How interesting? Well, it was a Roman settlement which nearly became the capital city of Roman Britain! And? The Vikings made a big impact here! And? It supplied food and other produce to London! And? Many of its ships including Thames Barges sailed from here for the Dunkirk evacuations? And....

So you may ask "where are the pictures of the Thames Barges or... .

We were so busy talking I hardly took any decent pictures. And you may say, this isn't one of them!
