Meeting the Ferry

One of the nicest tasks when we're in Arran is meeting the ferry. It's such a pleasure to see someone's face light up as they come down the gangway and let the cares of the world fall away at least for a while.

Here is today's Caledonian Isles 3.15 sailng from Ardrossan approaching Brodick Pier! On it are my sister and Abbie-dog, coming to collect nephew 2 after his first Arran break of the summer.

It's interesting that, for all the moans, groans, queries and concerns about it, The Ferry plays a part in the lives of islanders and part-time residents which goes beyond being the only mode of transport, to something more iconic.

This year the additional summer sailings are being provided, to general delight, by the Isle of Arran, a smaller ferry specifically designed for this route a number of years ago but which quickly became too small to cope.

Also evident in this blip is the beautiful weather we have enjoyed these past few days, while other poor souls have had thunder, lightning & torrential rain.
