Five
Today, I took my grade five piano exam. Probably the most important, and most relieving thing of the day. And quite glad that it's behind me now. I've been doing a lot of practice in preparation for it, but of course that doesn't mean i'm stopping. FULL STEAM AHEAD, as always.
I woke up, well was woken up, nice and early and was ready with time to spare. So I did some warm ups at home which was fine and then just left to go there. Bit of confusion with times with the exam board, but as long as they weren't moving me forward I was fine. The exam itself went more or less fine. Scales were as expected, a few mistakes but not horrendous. The aural went quite well, and the sight reading was really jazzy and fun.
The pieces however took me a bit by surprise. When I sat down to play the piano I was fine, but as soon as I started playing I came over very dizzy and thought I was going to pass out or something. But I carried on and somehow managed to get to the end of the piece. Had a drink of water and disregarded that piece, i'd made a few errors because it had shaken me a bit. But prepared myself vaguely for the fact it may happen again when I played the second piece. And it did, and I got to the end again. For the third piece I was pretty sure it'd happen again, and you guessed it. I did. I'm not exactly sure what it was but, i think the same happened the last time I performed in this room. However last time, I put it down to being ill, now I think perhaps the bright lighting might have affected me.
But never mind, it's in the past now. And hopefully I at least passed (the examiner was really nice so fingers crossed). I was a bit stuck for photo ideas tonight as i've spent the entire evening asleep. And just to clear up, I didn't burn this book. This is my grade 5 book, that i've been 'slaving on' for weeks. But there was no way I could burn a piece of music, it's sacrilege!
