One Day Like This

I heart hobbies

Once I heard of someone who told his date he loved hobbies. Urban legend or not, it's one of the dumbest things I'd ever heard. I never ever thought of myself as someone with a hobby, but today I couldn't run from the fact that I picked up two things I used to love doing.

1. I bought a DSLR. When I was 17 I had a second hand Konica and spent all the money I earned on film rolls and developing costs. You probably know how that story ended: I bought a digital compact camera when I started college and was pretty happy with this much cheaper way of recording memories. Having finished college and enjoying the Wolf Journal on a regular basis made me realize my compact camera didn't do it for me anymore.

2. I bought strings for my good old guitar. I played it since I was 12, but left it in a corner for several years now. Being at a festival last weekend and seeing some great bands perform (particularly Elbow, hence the title) showed me how much fun it is to make music.

So I tried out my new camera and played a few tunes. My fingers are still sore (those strings are bitches for inexperienced finger tips) but I am in love with both, I'll just say it, hobbies again. This picture was not today's best, but sums up this evening's sentiments perfectly. It's taken with the plastic fantastic 50 mm, it gives me the feeling of my old Konica all over again.
