Madeira...Day 5

Oh wow!! Drove to the central mountain region to THE most spectacular scenery. The 2nd highest mountain is accessible by car affording fantastic views. However we then moved on, parked up and walked to the summit of the highest mountain on the island at 6109 feet...Pico Ruivo! It actually rose above the clouds into brilliant blue skies and scorching temperatures which i daren't even hazard a guess at. In spite of that a group of local men were carring sacks of boulders and concrete on their shoulders to reinforce some of the paths...!
