Little Pot and Bounce Flash
Four views of a Little Pot that illustrate some of my experiments with Bounce Flash. Upper Left (UL) is straight-on flash. LL is bounce off a side wall. UR is bounce off ceiling to the right, and LR is a bounce from ceiling behind and right of the camera. To me this lesson shows how shadows are influenced by location of the bounce target. This should be applicable to controlling shadows on portraits.
The experiments were enabled by purchase of a 580EX II flash unit from Canon. This unit in addition to Master Flash functions has the ability to swivel left and right 180 degrees along with the up and down aiming of the light. And it is completely coordinated with the camera.
