En Route Chimbulak

Zhanara really looked after me today, driving me into the mountains despite torrential rains and a torrent running down the road.

Storm eased up as we had lunch at the new Trader Vics at the Medeu Ice Rink and we headed up to the Chimbulak ski area to ride the chair lift. Blip is of the gondola that runs from Medeu to Chimbulak, taken from the top of the Medeu dam. Another storm came through mid-afternoon and we got back down just before they shut the chair lift due to high wind and hail.

Spent the evening drinking vodka with Zhanara's family round the kitchen table. Nice way to finish my stay in Kazakhstan.
