Grain Store
The Imperial Dock Grain Store in Leith, viewed through the legs of a rusting crane. This has been made famous by the efforts of Forth Ports to tear down this impressive Grade B listed building to replace it with a biomass power plant. This has encountered a lot of opposition locally. Now, I have no particular time for Nimbies, but I would mourn the disappearance of such an impressive structure from the Leith Docks area, albeit that we cannot get close these days because modern paranoia means that we are firmly excluded, as the general public, from working docks.
The history of the store is related in the document here, and the RCAHMS record is here.
