Academic dress must be worn
Graduation day for Roland where was conferred with his MA degree from NUCA. A gloriously sunny day (until mid afternoon when it threw it down but we were home then and it seems to be clearing the air) kicking off with the collection of his gown, hood and mortar board. Best bits of his outfit, though, were his leather piano-keys tie and his two-tone co-respondent style shoes.
It was strange being in St Andrews Hall when it wasn't kitted out for the annual beer festival and the ceremony seemed to go on forever. I applied the usual strategy: in addition to Roland I would applaud only those who have very complicated names, those who are either very attractive or very ugly and when not clapping concentrate on the brightly gowned academics on the platform and try to work out which football teams colours were represented. I can only claim to recognise 1 person who was in Leeds United colours and another in West Ham.
I was very proud of my love, and afterwards we trotted round to Take5 for a lovely lunch and were given complimentary Elderflower martinis in celebration of his achievement.
