The Leprechaun Museum

Since we went on this trip for a class, we spent the morning and half of the afternoon in lectures about Ireland--the economy, businesses, being leaders. All of the lectures were rather interesting I thought and an added bonus was the fact that they actually helped with my paper. I'm writing my paper about the green movement and didn't think the lectures would be helpful to me, but they were which is awesome!

After lectures, some of the girls and I went to St. Patrick's Cathedral. It was stunning. I really enjoyed it. Just wish we could have found where St. Valentine was buried. After St. Patrick's Cathedral we took a walk to a Carroll's to do some souvenir shopping. Then we headed to the Leprechaun Museum.

We got there just in the nick of time to join a tour group and were all squeezed into a little room where we learned a little bit about Irish folklore. We were unleashed into several rooms dealing with different Leprechaun tales, including a room of giant furniture which is where this picture is from. We saw a pot of gold, learned about why horse shoes are considered lucky, and heard some Irish folklore from a great storyteller. Afterwards we got to draw pictures and hang them on the wall of the museum, so we could say "Look, Mom. My artwork is on the wall of a museum." Hehe. It was a really fun day and if I'm not mistaking we got dinner at Kate's Cottage and went to bed early.
