Outdoor Housework
After a good night's sleep and Mr Flum parking the car we took a leisurely breakfast on board before heading off by 8am.
To extend the holiday we went up to see Cruden Bay, sat and watched Terns diving for fish while we listened to The Archers (and falling asleep).
From there we went to Pitmedden Garden, last visited several years ago, and watched the gardeners and volunteers tidying and planting the parterrres. I was disappointed to see such a small plaque acknowledging the input from George Barron, the head gardener from 1948 to 1978 who led his team in the restoration of the garden in the 1950's. George was a genial expert on the BBC programme The Beechgrove Garden when I first began gardening. Apart from some winter damage the garden is still beautiful with flowers, fruit trees and bees.
So we wandered homeward, full of happy memories of a holiday amongst friendly, polite people; no vandalism, no litter, no loud music, fascinating history and stunning scenery.
Would we go again?
You bet!
Backblipped after return from holiday.
