Amisfield Walled Garden

I volunteered again this morning at Amisfield Walled Garden. It's a beautiful space that is slowly being brought back to life by a group of dedicated people. The original mansion house is long gone, but the garden remains, along with the stables, summer house and parkland. It was a prisoner of war camp during the second world war and the walled garden was ploughed up to grow potatoes.

I love my morning there each week and have slowly been bringing the herb patch back to life. Everything is choked by weeds and the size of the garden means that no sooner have you completed a job, it's time to start it again.

When I push the iron gate open and step within the walls it's as if time stops. Everything is peaceful and still, hours pass like minutes and it gives me the opportunity to mull quietly. It also gives me a great work out!
