Blowing my own trumpet
Sorry this is a bit out of focus, it was hard to try and take a photo of this plant as the trumpets are so tall and thin.
This is one of our carnivorous plants, the Yellow Trumpet Pitcher Sarracenia flava. The trumpets are filled with digestive fluid and as curious flies are attracted into the entrance of the trumpet, they fall down into the juice and get slowly digested by it. The fluid starts to get a bit gloopy and you can easily see the level of it through the plant.
They like to go dormant over winter and so this is left in the greenhouse, I was a bit worried about it this spring as it just sort of sat there for ages but luckily it leapt into life and is flourishing.
