Risque de Feux

My life is anything but black and white right now. Risque de feux is appropriate too.

I know everyone has experienced this - that's the joy of blip - but I feel the need to do a little expressionist venting. Why is it that life chooses the moments you least expect to spring things on you? Big things, you know. The kind of things you would prefer to arrive announced, or at least expected.

Or you know, while you are at home, and not that home, not the home of the heart, but the home away from home, the one where your stuff lives, the one where you live. Let it be there that such events happen, far from the complications of the heart home, but close - proximal - without obstacle.

2300 miles is actually a really long way. A long way from family, from all 3 best friends who have converged on the place of your heart, a long way from what life has just revealed to you.

Whatever will be - will be. This is a fact of any life, well-lived or otherwise. So we accept this interference, these strange obstacles that unbalance us. But we are faced with constant decision-making, and we will always wonder - follow the heart, follow the head, do neither, live without choice...

Some less heavy thoughts about today:

1. You all know I love USPS. But did you know that if you live anywhere near a major urban center in the US that you probably have a 24 hour/7 day post office near you? At 5p on Saturday I mailed some packages from the Boston one. And it was glorious - one more reason to love the postal service, and urban distribution centers.

2. 10 dozen cookies take a long time to bake.

3. If you live in the US, I guarantee you your flights to Texas cost less than a flight from Boston to Texas.

4. Coffee ice cream; cattle ranching.

5. I don't believe in horoscopes, but I do put a little stock in signs. I am a Leo, through and through, you are familiar now with my extremes in emotion, how I feel everything so hard and openly, how I seem to be a little crazy. I have no idea what this has to do with anything actually, as I just lost my train of thought.

Thanks for being here, blip.

EDIT: Nobody get alarmed. The unannounced eventfulness in my life is all positive. The 2300 miles is all negative.
