Iris pseudacorus

Iris pseudacorus growing in the wetlands at the eastern end of Buttermere.

Wednesday started off wet and we were both feeling under the weather. However, we made a great day by visiting the shops in Keswick (Old Friars... Booths...) and walking round Buttermere in the afternoon.

The low-level circuit of Buttermere lake is about 5 miles/8 km and is one of our favourites.

The wild flowers have been striking this June and disregarding the rarities we have seen countless foxgloves, ox-eye daisies, buttercups and in the wet places: yellow flag iris.
