snow climb

After lunch "down" at the bottom of this cut, we climbed through rock and snow to the saddle between two high peaks in the Dolomites. Part of the party is visible below. At the top we boarded a fixed-grip cable car to the bottom on the other side. "Fixed-grip" means it doesn't swap cables like modern ones do at the top and bottom; you run for it and dive in, aided by the attendants. And the cars are called "coffins" because of their shape, meant for only two standing people. Exciting.
