Heat Index

All sorts of specialized terminology... the heat index (today at 105 degrees Fahrenheit) is the combo of the actual heat (98) and the degree of humidity (70%) to reflect what it "feels like."

"It's not the heat, it's the humidity" is one of Washington's lores. It's printed on tee-shirts and discussed at length with anyone who wants to listen. I recall traveling to Niger and landing to 104 degrees and thinking: 'hey, that's not bad at all: at least it's dry heat...' ;) 'nuf of that.

Found these chairs baking on a sidewalk -- no human in sight anywhere.
