Moorhen in a Christmas tree

Which I thought was a slightly bizarre sight in June...
Probably a second brood for the moorhen (Gallinula chloropus).

Spent the day on my feet in a different cold draughty cellar, looking at some different bones from usual. The good thing was that the soil of this graveyard was sandy, so nice preservation and not too much cleaning required :)
Just an assessment of the assemblage, today. No guarantee that anything will be done with the material for quite a while..if at all.
