Yorkshire's Answer to the Windy City
I think when I was last in these parts on my school trip we stayed at the youth hostel in Linton. I didnt find that (not that I was particularly looking) but I did discover Malham.
There seemed to be quite a buzz about the place, plus the advantage of 2 large pubs within a stones throw of one another, so we decided to use Malham village as our base.
Unfortunately, there was no room at the inn for eating or for sleeping, nor at the hostel or campsite. Just out of the village though, was a very picturesque campsite under a sort of scar/escarpment where we set up out tents.
Lesson learnt: dont set up camp under a cliff. Talk about wind!
I think maybe the air was sort of cascading down the slope or something because it was like a hurricane ALL THE TIME. 5 yards out of the camp and it was a light gentle spring breeze, all refreshing and genteel; inside you had to walk at a 45 degree angle.
