A Hiding Bunny
A bunny hiding under a tree of pine,
waiting for the chance to come out and dine.
Who's that guy pointing a camera at me?
Guess I'll just stay right under this tree.
When I got home from my walk today...there were 3 bunnies in my back yard. I put all my plants in yesterday, and the area is protected by a few stakes and some chicken wire. I did'nt cover my tomato plants. They did'nt seem to bother them last year.
I came in through my back fence, and kind of cornered them in my yard. They had to get by me to get to the wooded area behind my house. After coming out from underneath the tree, 2 of them began a strange game of bunny-hop. Back and forth they went...3 times doing the hop over the other bunny. Of course I missed all 3 jumps. It just happened too fast.
When I let my dogs out...Niya, the needy chihauhau, hits the back porch on a dead fly. She can really move. The squirrels and the rabbits run for cover. Especially at night, I'm worried that she is going to chase down a racoon, a woodchuck, or the worst...a skunk. If she gets sprayed by a skunk...I think she is automatically going to become an "outside" dog. A medium-sized cardboard box with a hole cut in the end would make her a fine little home.
She thinks the backyard is her domain, her queendom. Just once, I wish one of these bunnies would pause a bit, crank up those hind legs and thump Niya the chihauhau right smack on the kisser. It would'nt hurt her, but it may just teach her that she does'nt have to chase everything that moves. It will probably never happen.
91 and humid today. We're waiting on some potentially bad thunderstorms.
