My Second Blip

Yesterday I blipped my feet. Today I've blipped one of my hands. As well as writing about things in my life I am also going to try and improve my photography skills. That won't be difficult as my photography skills at the moment are at the 'point & shoot' stage.

I like abstract photography. Well that's a lie actually. I think some of the photographs on 'Blipfoto' are really quite incredible and I'd love to be able to take photos like them. But at my age I know my limitations. I think I might be able to learn how to turn some of my photos into abstract type pictures. I don't think I will be able to learn how to become a fantastic photographer. But who knows? 'Blipfoto' seems to give everyone (professional or not) the chance to take a photo a day and publish it.

I was introduced to 'Blipfoto' recently via 'Facebook friends' and I have become totally addicted to it. It seems to be such a friendly community and I wanted to be part of it. Initially I wanted to remain anonymous (hence my 'Blipfoto' name) because I wanted to use it as a medium for my own writing. However my first blip has attracted 78 views and 10 comments. I'm overwhelmed by the response to what I thought was a boring account of what my feet were like.

But to get back to my 'hand' blip today. OK, so it's not great photography, but I'm hoping that after 500 blips there will be a significant improvement.

I don't really have an artistic background. I did 'higher' art at school in the 1970's when I specialised, (if that's what you can call it), in screen printing, though I've never done it since and wouldn't have a clue how to do it now. I screen printed a design (made up from the letters of the name of the guy I fancied at the time?!) onto material and made a sun dress out of it. I have to say, at the time, I thought it was really quite cool. Looking back I can't believe I actually did that. There again, looking back, there's a lot of stuff I can't believe I did.

In the early 1980's I did a pottery night class and made some nice things. In fact I still have a 'castle' that I made. I could have blipped that today. It looks a lot better than my abstract hand???!!

More recently (about 4 years ago) I did a painting night class.

Now I'd like to concentrate on painting abstract sea scenes using acrylic paints but just never seem to find the time.

I'm hoping 'Blipfoto' will help me focus on doing at least one thing a day.
