(Sort of) New Shoes
Today was my first ride in my new Sidis, as it was the first on my real road bike (not the one from yesterday). After a miserable 500 miles last fall in shoes that were poorly built and too small, I finally sprung for some real shoes around Christmas (thanks in no small part to a very generous gift certificate to my favorite bike shop). Unfortunately, my first ride in these was even worse, so I went to see an athletic shoe specialist and a podiatrist. Apparently I have wide feet, at least by European standards, which meant waiting for the shoes to come (they were backordered at the shop and the distributor, so I had to wait patiently for them to come all the way from Italy). By the time they arrived, the foot and knee problems that resulted from my first pair of shoes had forced me onto other bikes, and so I didn't get to use them.
Until today.
Even not broken in yet, they are incredibly comfortable and fit much better than my 500-mile-worn Times. Now I see why so many cyclists (especially with wide feet) swear by Sidis.
Wish I could've composed this more interestingly, but the piece of posterboard that comprises the backbone of my studio simply wasn't big enough. Oh well. Hope some of you other cyclists on here enjoyed the nice weather today (at least, it was nice here).
