Angular Recording Corporation
Bit of a lazy blip today, I chose the gym over blip at lunchtime and I'm off out for some Michelin starred food tonight, courtesy of those kind people at work (it's taken us 8 months to use the vouchers given as a gift when Arlo was born). This shot is of the window coverings at the Ingelby Gallery ahead of their new display "Gravity's Rainbow" (and me taking the shot of course).
Angular Recording Corporation was one of the labels that sprung up around the New Cross art rocker's scene. Essentially lots of kids influenced by post-punk and having a blast trying it out for themselves. I'm not sure if angular refers to the haircuts or the riffs. Bloc Party and The Klaxons are their biggest success stories and I've a real soft spot for Bloc Party particularly the first two albums. My favourite of the lot though is the group who are probably the most archetypally indie on the label The Long Blondes, their jangly guitars and lovelorn lyrics get me everytime. Finally I still can't make my mind up about These New Puritans (can anyone help).
* hopefully bump into some of you tomorrow at the blip picnic, hopefully my wife and son will be there too
