A Photograph Returned

This is the living room in our recently reclaimed apartment in New York. My wife Marylee lived there starting in 1969 with her first husband, Fred. He died in an auto accident in 1987, and in 1992 she moved to a nearby place on West 93th St., where we met in 1994.

In the 1970s Fred took the photograph on the wall in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, during one of his lunch hours. It hung in this spot until Marylee moved, first to 93rd St. and then to Northampton with me. The long-term tenants here in NYC finally moved last July and we've brought it back to New York.

This afternoon we hung the photograph back exactly in its original spot--it's best viewed in large. As it happened, Fred's brother Larry came to visit this afternoon (with his wife Linda) for the first time since we had reoccupied the apartment. Larry and Linda have had another print of the photo in their apartment in the Bronx since the 1970s

A complex story, but important for us--I hope you've been able to follow it. Two views from the apartment (with a bit more of the story) are here and here.
