Bedhead
Post-nap-time snuggles are the best. They really are. I've missed these. (Mainly because I've been napping with Ben!) Ben decided he wanted to sleep in his own bed for his nap rather than in with me, so I decided not to have a nap for a change.
Instead I did the washing up (I've not done washing up properly for weeks, I've finally got to the bottom of the pile. And bleached and cleaned the sink. Gross.) and went out and watered the plants. I did wonder if it was a bit pointless because it looked very threatening - but it has not actually rained properly today at all. So I didn't water the plants in vain! My strawberries are growing, the raspberry bush is fruiting, the potatoes have wilted but I'm sure with a good drink they'll revive. I watered and deadheaded the rose in the front garden, and then I collapsed in a heap to sort out yesterday's playhouse blip :)
Then Ben woke up and wanted snuggles downstairs. And fell asleep on me for half an hour! The suggestion of chocolate fingers brought him round though so we have been snacking on them waiting for daddy (who is home now and hopefully about to make some dinner.....).
Scan this morning.
Following last night's bathtime shenanigans I never got a bath last night. So I figured I'd try and get a quick bath this morning before going out... and I did! Without feeling ill afterwards, and without Ben coming upstairs to tell me the dvd had finished. But that did only leave 30 minutes to get us both dressed and dry my hair and make some sandwiches to take with us. Thankfully Steve arrived home in time to make sandwiches and so off we raced to the hospital.
Nowhere to park - typical!! So I was dropped off to make my way round to radiography, and Steve and Ben went off to find somewhere to park. Registered and sat down to wait, and before I knew it I was being called in. No sign of Steve or Ben. The sonographer decided that if it was ok with me, that he'd do the official part of the scan while we were waiting for them to turn up (I was ok with that) and then let them in when they turned up to show them baby as well. He went out and left a message at reception to send Steve and Ben through when they arrived.
No sign of Steve and Ben.
Scan done, one healthy baby in there :D A proper wriggly baby as well. Suddenly got a whole lot more real - despite the sickness, if you know what I mean.
Anyway.
Still no sign of Steve and Ben.
Sonographer got on with and finished all the various bits of paperwork.
Still no Steve and Ben.
So I got cleaned up and went out to wait for them, and to talk with a lady doing a study on childhood asthma (from antenatal stage onwards). Sonographer said that as it was quiet today, that when hubby and son turned up he'd get us all in to have a look at baby :) What a lovely lovely chap!
Well, they turned up as I was talking to the nurse about this asthma study. Turns out there was no parking in either the main hospital carpark OR the overflow carpark, so they'd gone and parked outside a work colleague's house much further down the road, and run up to the hospital! We finished chatting and then went back into the ultrasound room. Ben looked a bit unsure of the whole proceeding but he also looked very much like he does when he goes into what Steve and I call his "data capture" mode, paying close attention, observing, just not saying much :)
By the time we were on our way out of the hospital and had stopped to look at the metal penguins, Ben wanted to see the pictures of baby again. It must be weird, having been told about the baby in mummy's tummy, to seeing it on the hospital's tv, to seeing pictures of it.
Happy though :) And for the first time in weeks I don't feel sick!!!!!
