Bittersweet peace

Sat at my Mac, I suddenly became aware of silence in our cottage. But for the late winter birdsong everything was eerily quiet. As there's a motorway running within 200 yards of our front door this is something that never happens. A quick check online tells me that a lorry has blown over and both sides of the M61 are closed.

It's not possible to enjoy the peace though, not with thoughts of injuries and possible loss of life a mile or two north.
