Horn Faced Bee?

I believe this guy to be a horn faced bee, which is a kind of solitary bee. He was black and white striped and had the most amazing proboscis. Although a casual glance made me think ordinary honey bee, after I studied him and the strange proboscis sent me scurrying off to the internet. I know there are solitary bees in NM, most of which are very small and darkly colored but after studying the bee for about a half an hour I am convinced it was no ordinary bee.

I had hoped that today's blip would be Mara at the NM Highland Games where she rode ponies and got her face painted, but the cameras seem to know how much I wanted the pictures, or maybe it was my sinus infection, but nothing came out, either to distant or blurry.

Isn't it amazing that the bee's wins can be beating so fast they are blurred, but the bee itself isn't moving enough to blur.

I give thanks for a nice day with Mara, my daughter and a very good friend.
