Launching the Grey Float
For some reason, this photo would not upload last night and I gave up and had to go to bed. :-) But success this morning. I wanted to document the launching of our rowing float- it's a half height "Can-dock" that one can buy in sections and put together like tinkertoys and make any size you want. In september we put it (having split it into 3 pieces so it's slightly more manageable) way up above the beach at the end of the bay next to our neighbor's boathouse, where all the barnacles and mussels will fall off. In May we get some help to put it together- no small matter to drag it down as far as possible, line up the 3 pieces and screw them together with big plastic screws. Here the 3rd piece is waiting to be attached. Our friends D, T and K are helping (or supervising....!) Then around 9pm the tide lifted it off - here D and K are rowing in to untie the line and give it a shove out to our boat, where we'll drag it to our dock. It extends the dock and makes it possible to launch the rowing boats with riggers that fit over it. I put these 2 together as it shows the same spot from 2 directions with the tide out and then in. Back to one photo today! It was a lovely day yesterday - we were comfortable eating outside -this morning I woke up to rain!
