I've got an itch...
After a manic morning, trying to do too much in too little time while Carys was at Nursery we headed to Whipsnade with dark clouds gathering. We were lucky not to be rained on although I have been warmer.
At Carys' requested we visited the otters (a bit we hadn't visited before) and the the Birds of the World Show, swiftly followed by the Sealion show. Then it was on to the elephants who were out in the wooded area so we got very close. The baby was within touching distance, but I couldn't blip because of the wire fence, so you get one of the older females. Carys was open mouthed watching the baby strip leaves off the trees and William was for once silenced by the size and grace of the elephants close up.
The cheetah's were stunning as usual, climbing trees to look across their enclosure into the next. I got some good snaps but wished my lens had more zoom.
Carys requested an ice cream and I told her she could choose between an ice cream or a ride on the train (we go so regularly that I don't want her to assume that she automatically can have an ice cream because we are at the zoo, it needs to still be thought of as treat) and she surprised me by not only accepting the choice without a murmur but also by choosing the train, because William doesn't really like ice cream. She makes my heart melt when she says things like that.
Big day tomorrow. Two ballet displays in the Town Square and her Birthday party. I think we will all be quite tired by this time tomorrow.
