Dorset Day 2

Feeling good, ready to have 2 good dives...

First a drift dive... All good except during the dive I can feel the suit flooding!! Managed to complete the dive and ascend complete with safety stop. Managed 18 metres depth, vis awful and not a lot of sea life other than a crab! But it was good all the same.

Back at the centre take my drysuit off and to say it was flooded was an understatement!! We decide it's a faulty neck seal, that's Erm not sealing properly and the water is just seeping in. May as well be diving in a wetsuit!

Ron at F & B lent me another undersuit for my second dive, a dive just within the harbour walls should be nice enough. Do my descent, and even though we have added another seal under the drysuit seal nothing can disguise that lovely cold, wet feeling of water running down and reaching your feet, had to forfeit my dive, ascend and get back on the rib. Gutted again but at least I know that I have my own suit to look forward to and that I definitely do not like membrane trilaminate drysuits! Roll on my neoprene suit! I've dived once before in a neoprene suit, at Stoney Cove and if it wasn't for having had a faulty valve and awful conditions I would have had an ok dive!

I can take a lot from this weekend away with me, happy with my decision making, can learn from the events and happy with the knowledge that I am soon to have a very empty wallet, all in a good cause! I want to dive in the UK despite my current experiences of drysuit diving and look forward to it. Lots of dives coming up in a quarry with the new drysuit to get used to it before heading out to do a salt water dive! Mind got to wait at least 4 weeks for it to arrive first!

It was lovely to see R when I got home! He's been doing boys stuff playing with a car he's fixing... was better I was out the way!
