I'll Fly Away
In addition to his adventures with the cardboard box yesterday, John has recently hatched a plan of how to make the most of his two days off every week. Having noticed that cut-price plane tickets now make it cheaper to get to Paris than to Preston, he's decided to jet off to the continent for weekly getaways. The sky is, quite literally, the limit.
Of course, each trip has to have a gimmick, a reason for going. Over the course of a couple of hours' brainstorming, we managed to come up with a suitable McGuffin for every country John wants to visit.
Portugal - for authentic Portuguese port.
Italy - for proper Italian pizza.
Spain - for boots of Spanish leather.
France - for French toast.
Belgium - for Belgian waffles.
Holland - John's geographical knowledge came to the fore when we reached this ("Holland's near Amsterdam, isn't it?") and it's probably best left to your imagination what his objectives there are.
Denmark - for Danish bacon.
Germany - for German sausage.
Poland - for Polish polish.
Norway - we struggled with this one. My initial ideas (to burn down a church, and/or commit suicide) didn't really hit the mark, so we settled on finding some Norwegian wood. Or possibly obtaining a lemming.
