Today I went on a private tour to the Great Wall of China. That in itself was a spectacular activity - in a sidecar on a classic motorbike. We stopped off at a couple of places and walked to a watchtower at the top of a hill where we had a picnic lunch with a spectacular view.

The wall is incredible - in many places it is completely unnecessary as an attacking army is hardly going to climb a giant mountain to try and cross a border, but it does send a sign that the borders are sealed and watched. The real border is about 1000km further north now. It is also quite steep in places and not always stepped...
