Mother's Day....
....in Australia.
I've never really cared much about Mother's Day, I always told my kids, 'I'm a Mum 365 days of the year, not just one day.'
Also, because I lived most of my life in the UK, Mother's Day was always in March, and had more to do with the church and was called Mothering Sunday.
So I always felt it was more commercialised here, let's see how many cards, flowers, perfume etc. we can buy. It's probably changed in the UK as well now.
But this year is different, this is the first Mother's Day without my beautiful son Christian.
At work this morning I was asked, 'What are you doing for Mother's Day?'
'Nothing', I replied, 'It's not the same without Christian.'
Awkward silence.
It seems as though people have forgotten already.
But for us it is still so very fresh in our minds. And for some reason just lately we all seem to be finding it harder than ever.
In the photo the card on the right is my Mother's Day card from last year, the last one signed by Christian.
The card on the left is this year's card from my beautiful daughter Alexandra, who very thoughtfully signed it not only from her but from 'our beautiful angel Christian.'
