500
Eeks this sort of crept up on me - my plan had been to backblip a missing day for February which I forgot to post then my 500th would have been our last day in Marrakech but of course the best plans never go smoothly, then yesterday with my first day back at work and catching up at home I almost forgot to take even one photograph and I took this at aound 23.30 so apologies for the poor effort as its not even in focus :)
This banknote forms part of my collection from various countries I've visited, strangely I have recently discovered that people collect notes in the same way that they do coins and there are several websites where people buy and sell. This note is from Zaire now known as the Democratic Republic of the Congo and is worthless, if I recall when I visited there was something like 5 million equal to US$1, not that shops wanted to take local currency they wanted US$ and people in villages were happy to barter a t/shirt for fruit and veg. At the time I hated Zaire because it was full of giant sized bugs which all seemed to bite or sting but it was a beautiful country - we spent 5 weeks driving across from Kampala in Uganda to Bangui in Central Africa Republic, camping with basins of muddy river water (or rain water during storms) for showers.
I'd like to say a warm thanks to everybody who visits and comments on my journal whether occassionally or on a regular basis; I haven't been commenting much outside of my subscriptions recently as time has been lacking - but so many people on blip are an inspiration to me to take better photographs and also thanks to Joe and the crew because without them we wouldn't have this amazing community.
