Suckers

Uh-oh. I noticed this little sucker today, growing near the bottom of the tree I blipped yesterday. I'm guessing that it's started growing because of the severe pruning last year. The tree surgeon did say that this would be a real problem if they had cut the tree down completely as it is such a vigorous variety, so I now I'm wondering how many other suckers are going to be appearing. Hopefully not too many.

As for the sweet peas, I have now discovered that I wont' need to worry about staking them as they are a miniature variety and won't grow more than 12 inches tall. So I have just poked a few twigs in amongst the seedlings to give them a bit of support.

This is turning into a right little gardening blog. Must find some other interests!
