Ah, The Claw!
A giant outdoor funfair stall! I couldn't belive my luck. What's more, It seemed that only I had noticed it, so I had it all to myself.
I put my 20p down the slot in the wall and the controls appeared. View large to see the stunning array of exciting prizes on offer. I wasn't sure whether to go for any number of washing machines, as mine seemed to have sprung a leak this morning, or to risk the ladders, which would help prune the fruit trees in years to come, or should I try for the fabulously vibrant car doors? I've always fancied a car door sculpture in my garden.
As always with these things I think it was rigged. I was almost slamming the lever left and it had already stopped and was on the pick-up. No joy, there's a surprise. But what fun.
If I ever return to work - well someone has to put the kids through university - I want this job. The job of driving the giant grabber and sorting out all the shiny metal. Bliss.
And, as I walked away a little toot and a huge smile from the happy driver today. Aw how lovely, there was a consolation prize after all.
I could look at this image for hours, infact I have been. If I'm not careful the next step will be to catalogue the items by description, colour and size. Stop me now.
