Bank Holiday Monday
18months 11 days
So, first things first - the big girls' bed. Not a problem. She slept through, although woke up at 5am, but thats not too uncommon. I'm hoping we have a repeat performance, but with a normal bed time (last night was a bit late with being out). I'm really pleased with how settled she was. When she woke up, she did stand at the end of it, like she used to with the cot, so I've moved the bedguard up a bit, so she gets out that end instead of standing at it - it made a little nervous that she'd try hurl herself over (much as she does to get in).
We've had a fab day out today. We went to Driffield Kite Festival and met Granny and Grandad there. I thought she would be interested in the kites but was surprised at just how interested she was. She loved some that were shaped like fish and kept looking for them all afternoon. There were allsorts of sideshows and stalls. Dogs everywhere. Including the massive mountain dogs that pull carts- she practically cuddled up to those. She made sure each one got a proper cuddle. She had tasters on the jams and cheese stalls, blagged free chocolate buttons from a chocolate stall. She went on a bouncy castle. For about 4 seconds! She got a balloon, and spent lots of time chasing it round in circles.
We had a picnic in the sun, although it was a bit windy so she said "sit car" and climbed into grandad's car. We've had some brilliant mini-sentences today. "there she is", "juice bag" (put the juice in the bag) "all gone", "put in bin" and some new words too. She's been a chatter box all day. We went back round the stalls after lunch, she said hello to a really friendly little dog for a long time, Katie let her climb on her lap and lick her face and gave her a cuddle in return. Final part of the day was an adventure for Monkey
We packed up and drove to find somewhere to have a drink and snack. But by the time we found somewhere open, we decided it was in fact nearly teatime, so had a meal instead. Katie ate sausages and teacake accompanied by grapes and crackers. An unusual combination but one that worked for her!
Hope all of our friends have had a happy bank holiday x
