Black
Is this dark? Is this a metaphor? Is this just a banana?
You tell me. I took this intending to see if I could get a well-lit and well-exposed banana on a black background using the ghetto equipment I have available to me (well, not the camera). After I started it seemd to take on a new life of sorts. . .
The abstractions continue, and I realized tonight that this is beginning to change the way I look at photography: I have taken over 4,000 frames of things I find, and only recently have I really begun to deliberately "create" my subject matter, the few portraits I have done being the only real exception. As obvious as this may sound, I never really did this before.
Sort of the opposite of yesterday's setup, and a good deal more difficult. Lighting was the worst, involving an LED headlamp on the left (green) side and a 1 AAA Maglite on the other (yellow) side. Fortunately, the white balance issue is moot because it's a banana, and all of the colors work. The way I see it, one of these days I'll have the equipment, and then it will be easy.
I devoured my model immediately after tse shoot (with peanut butter). Perhaps this is why I'm stuck taking portraits of bananas.
