Rosy's Wedding

Rosy and Karthik's marriage took place in two stages today:

In the morning, the civil ceremony (required in France) at the Mairie (Town Hall) of the 14th arrondissement in Paris, where they live.

Then starting in the late afternoon a more informal ceremony and reception, in the courtyard outside Rosy's ground-floor studio. Parts of the ceremony were Indian, prepared by Karthik's family; a part was essentially Catholic, by friends of Rosy's, and the rest was informal, with a marvelous a cappella ballad to start, and in closing (as shown here) a rollicking popular song of love to the accompaniment of Rosy's father Albert (whom I blipped yesterday).

At least a hundred relatives and friends came in the morning, and more turned up at the ceremony and reception. The arrangements included greetings in at least a dozen languages. It's difficult to describe how wonderful it all was--the most intense social (and photographic) experience I've had in a long while.
