Woody
Well, that's my name for this guy. He lives in Whitlingham country park, way down Shaggers Lane, way past the water sport centre which means that lots of people visit the park never get to meet him just because they don't go down the lane far enough.
Carved out of wood, he holds a canoe (or kayak?), wears flippers, swimming goggles and coming out of his mouth is a fish. Or, rather, there used to be a fish. I was a bit sad to see that the head of the fish seems to have broken off. I hope he gets a new one soon.
In the bit of wood near the car park opposite where Woody lives someone has started to carve a dog, complete with kennel, from what looks like a dead tree. That made me smile, and I'll look forward to seeing how it progresses.
It was great whizzing down the disused railway track on my bike down towards Trowse, sun shining, no deadlines, and only myself to please. A lovely start to my week off.
