The cake shop

We have a lovely cake shop near to where we live and this is the man who ices the cakes. The cake itself is quite plain - sponge and not too sweet. It's made and baked on the premises. The icing is quite the opposite. It's very thick and creamy and made of goodness knows what! The colours are very bright. I can't imagine what they are coloured with. There are some bags of colour on the table in front of the cake in this picture and they really do look just like the powder paint we used to use at school. The cakes are lavishly decorated. There are beautifully created flowers and animals on them and you can get a message written in fluorescent blue, green or red.Santa Claus often makes an appearance on the cakes complete with reindeer which always amazes and amuses me. There was a cake in there today awaiting collection with Santa on the top! The temperature here today is about 35!The thing I love most about this shop is that when you collect your cake you get given plates, cake forks, and coloured napkins so you can get on and have your party straight away. They also sell balloons and party poppersThe cakes cost $5 which is so little for something which takes so much time and skill to create.
